It has been a dream of mine ever since I was a little girl to travel around the world, and seeing as it's gonna take me a bit more time to do that, one other way to get a glimpse of the world is through food. Luckily, my Aunt invited me and my family to a lunch buffet at 7 Corners at the Crowne Plaza Galleria in Ortigas with some of our relatives. The night before, I opted to read on reviews about the restaurant and I thought I may as well do one after the experience. I try to expect nothing from these kind of buffet offerings for me to fully appreciate the whole thing. Since my cousins and I had buffet experiences before, we always take the time to savor the ambiance and of coarse the taste of the food, and I have to say I can give 7 Corners about 6 out of 10 stars. The restaurant was as elegant as it can be judging by the table setting and how their dishes are laid out. They have 7 stations varying from Western, Oriental, Mediterranean/Indian, Italian, Japanese, fruits and a hefty lay of dessert. The food was OK but not that great. I loved the variation of Makis served that day and we all enjoyed the Steak that's for sure!!! I have pictures of my individual plates below and some other reviews on what I had.

We had two tables reserved for our party, one for the "kids" (me and my cousins) and the other for our parents or we call them "tanders" (a Tagalog word short for 'matanda', which means 'old' in English). Our tables were situated at the end of the restaurant so we get the view of the whole room.

BUFFET, SET, GO!

Plate 1. JAPANESE |
I had four kinds of Maki on my plate (California, Crab Stick & Cream Cheese are the only ones I could remember cause they didn't have individual labels on), a Salmon slice and Nigirizushi.
 |
Plate 2. FRUITS |
I have to say that the fruits were really fresh! I had a few grapes (with seeds!!! which my brother and I thought were seedless! huh!), melon slices, watermelon and for the first time ever, I tasted a Dragon Fruit! (It has a very mild taste, not too sweet or sour and it has a strawberry like texture when your eating it)
 |
Plate 3. WESTERN |
Rib-Eye Steak with Mash Potatoes. Period. This was the highlight of the day for me, for us really!!! I had two servings cause it was just so yummy! I like my steak well done cause i've tried meduim-rare and I know that it's easier to cut into it but i'm just not a fan.
 |
Plate 4. INDIAN/MEDITERRANEAN |
I had a vegetarian dish, some Naan bread and Papadum cracker. I didn't really try any curry that time cause i'm pretty scared for my tummy.
 |
Plate 5. ITALIAN |
Since i've read that they have this 'Make Your Own Pizza' in the Italian Station, I ordered a pizza for me and my cousins to share since I knew I couldn't finish a whole plate myself. We had an all meat pizza, half of it with pineapples since I like my pizza with those. The pizza was OK, nothing that we haven't tasted before but, I like that it was a thin crust since we were all pretty stuffed by the time we had it.
And of coarse, last but not least, the dessert plate! And I definitely made room for it! I chose melon, strawberry and mango flavored ice cream and various toppings like marshmallows, chocolate chips and nuts and made it into a Teppanyaki Ice Cream where they have this cooled surface where they mix it all up. I didn't really like the ice cream cause the 3 flavors doesn't really go well together and the flavors kinda tasted artificial for me like they weren't made from fresh fruits at all and we only had 4 flavors to choose from, there wasn't even vanilla or chocolate so that was disappointing.

Plate 6. DESSERT |
Together with the Teppanyaki Ice Cream, I also tried their Creme Brulee which tasted like Leche Flan to me with the addition of the torched sugar on top. I also tasted the various mini cakes with my cousins since we were really full but we wanted to try them all. I wasn't also a fan of the mini cakes cause they were all made from dark chocolates and too bitter for me.
Overall it was a great experience. I tasted new dishes from other countries and enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to trying on other buffet meals on different hotels in the future. After the meal we got to take a few photos as souvenirs, so check them out.

This lunch was actually a joint celebration of Daddy Emil, Ate Miles and Ate Bot's birthday as well as Ate Dae's despedida since she's heading to Australia the 1st week of February and will only be back in time for Ate Miles and Kuya Dado's wedding on March.
I can't even explain how full I am that day but it was all good. The most important thing for me was I got to spend a day with my family and we all had fun eating and talking at the same time. We may have been in a bit of a rush cause we were still heading home to Quezon but it was all worth it. One more family bonding done, definitely more to go! :D
